Alex Cora shares Red Sox's third basic plan according to Alex Bregman's injury

Boston – The Red Sox are in a very difficult place when Alex Bregman has to miss the time in the third base.

The Boston star left the game on Friday against the Baltimore Orioles with the right quad and will not play in the night window of the Doubleheader.

Manager Alex Cora announced that Nick Sogard would play the third basis on Friday evening and expanded other options in the position when Bregman misses the time.

Cora listed Sogard, Ceddanne Rafaela, Abraham Toro and Connor Wong as a candidate for the third basis for the Red Sox. He stayed away from David Hamilton and Kristian Campbell as options due to inexperience in the position.

Marcelo Mayer, who played the second basis for Triple-A Worcester on Friday afternoon, also watched the position in his MILB career.

“In an emergency, we (Campbell) can move into the outer field, Ceddanne to the Infield and go from there,” said Cora between the games.

And no, Cora does not name Rafael Devers as an option for the Red Sox to play the third basis.

Bregman called his injury “daily” and the Red Sox will see how it feels on Saturday. The Red Sox won game 1 of the Douleheader with a 19:5 victory and hoped to find dynamics to round off the 10-game home level.
