Bath Rugby Crush Lyon, 37-12, win 2025 EPCR Challenge Cup Finale in Cardiff

Bath Rugby achieved her first EPCR Challenge Cup title since 2008 with a comprehensive 37-12 victory against Lyon Olympique Universitaire in the Principality Stadium of Cardiff.

Despite an attempt in the fourth minute of Ethan Dumortier to give Lyon an early lead, the French side gushed goalless for the rest of the first half and only managed another attempt in the second.

Bathroom, disregarded by two yellow cards and an early deficit, reacted with strength.

Try Tom Dunn, Max Ojomoh, Beno Obano and the man of the game Ben Spencer steadily built their leadership.

Finn Russell contributed a handful of conversions and three punitive goals and added a significant cutlery to his career.

Lyon's unlikely run until the final – almost to run on the way to run 92 – is a hard stop in Cardiff, while Bath take the 2025 Challenge Cup home.

Bath Rugby reached the Challenge Cup final before earlier occasions and only secured victory once when they defeated Worcester Warriors with 24: 16 to claim their first large trophy for a decade.

Her latest appearance in the final came in 2014, where Northampton Saints 30-16 were beaten. Despite a strong start, Bad succumbed to a late increase in the saints.
