Trump says US steel partner with Nippon Steel

President Trump announced on Friday that a long time between the US steel and his Japanese rival Nippon Steel was a starting signal.

“This will be a planned partnership between the United States Steel and Nippon Steel, which creates at least 70,000 jobs and add $ 14 billion to the US economy,” wrote Trump on social media. “The majority of this investment will take place in the next 14 months.”

Mr. Trump's statement contained no conditions for the deal, and there was no explanation for the number of new jobs he projected. Us Steel currently employs 22,000 people, around 14,000 of them in North America.

Nippon Steel had tried to acquire US Steel for $ 14 billion, but the bidges administration officially blocked the deal in January for national security reasons. The potential business and the idea that a Japanese company would acquire a US industrial and industrial artist became a problem in the presidential campaign of the past year last year and sometimes threatened to complicate the US trade relationships with Japan.

Mr. Trump said in February that while he saw himself against Nippon Steel, he had the prospect of an investment “very exciting”.

Last year, Mr. Trump had said that US steel had to be in possession and in operation, and it was not immediately clear whether the announcement of Friday would claim this promise. His position seemed more to an investment by Nippon Steel rather than a complete acquisition, although the property structure of the deal was not clear.
