Mind guard for the 9-year-old boy who killed Crossing Street after school-NBC 5 Dallas-Fort worth

After the last day of school in Botello Elementary on Friday, the community gathered to mourn instead of celebrating the summer one day after the death of 9-year-old Jose Garcia Ledesma.

“It felt cloudy and rainy, even though the sun was outside,” said kindergarten teacher Yuri Ellet.

Together with the employees, classmates and neighbors placed candles, flowers and toys near the crash on Thursday.

The Dallas police said the family was hit by a pickup

Ledesma's mother, Deyaneira Ledesma, said to NBC5 when they were not at a marked intersection, she looked in both directions. She said they didn't get it.

“Undolor en mi vida que Jamas Hubiera Querido Sentir,” she said in Spanish.

It is a pain, she said that she never wanted to feel.

The school and the community have gathered emotionally and financially around the family.

“We all mourn the loss of a child of an innocent child in such senseless way,” said Ellett.

While he never had Garcia Ledesma in class, Ellett said that there is a collective feeling for the loss of moving across the campus and the neighborhood.

“I only know that he was happy. He was happy with his friends here at school,” he said.

The neighbors also offer the other two injured children supported.

According to her mother, the twin sister of Garcia Ledesma, Keyla Ledesma, suffered a broken leg and a hip. She said that an 11-year-old girl who was also taken to the hospital by Dallas-Fire Rescue was a neighbor.

The Dallas police say, while their examination of the crash continues to last, it does not appear to be speed.

The driver who stayed at the scene is not charged.
