At least 50 killed in a gang attack on Haitian city

At least 50 people, including children, were killed when an armed gang attacked the city in Central -Haiti.

The attackers set fire to houses, drove through a church and civilians in what witnesses called massacre, reports AZ, citing foreign media.

Among the victims was the 86-year-old Pastor Jocques Brutus, who was reportedly beheaded by attackers in the Maranatha Church.

“At least 50 corpses were found. It is almost impossible to reach the massacre place because the gangs still have control. Fourteen of the corpses were beheaded and burned,” said a witness of the Spain news agency EFE.

It is believed that the gang under the name “Self -Defense Coalition” operates under the first claims.

The conference of the Haitian bishop expressed “deep grief” over the brutal murders and asked the authorities to take measures immediately.

Haiti was plagued by an in-depth crisis, whereby the capital Port-Au-Prince mainly threatens more than 11 million people under gang control and nutritional uncertainty.

According to the UN numbers, more than 5,600 people were killed in Haiti in Haiti in 2024.
